Montage of Actors Research (casting)
We went to a performance of some AS Theatre Studies Monologues and this allowed us to take into consideration the type of actors we would like to see, potentially in the film opening that we shall be making in the future. This montage shows some small snippets of the monologues by the Theatre Study students.

Genre research - Horror
We have chosen the genre of horror for our film opening coursework. To help us decide on the genre we did some research on horror films. Here are a few we've looked at. Enjoy.
This next one was us looking at the idea that something that is naturally not scary (answering the phone)happens and therefore makes an everyday action scary. Making it real for the audience.

Typical Sounds and Music in the Horror Genre
Typical sounds that are within the horror genre include:
-- high pitched screams
-- echoes
-- breathing
-- sudden strings/ boom effects
-- piano base tunes
Also almost all of the movies we used to help understand the sounds used had a very ionic theme tune to add to the film opening. We intend to use the research of these sounds to add to the intensity of our film opening.

Representation of Gender
After creating our poll we felt we should investigate gender within the media. We have therefore gained a deeper understanding of gender representation. We looked at this in class and chose to continue our learning outside the classroom.
Film Openings
We have been looking at film openings in class in order to begin our research of their typical features. We researched codes and conventions and chose to delve further into their generic structures.(See following posts). Here are some spider diagrams of our research into typical film openings.
